Founded in 2010 out of Austin’s electronic scene by vocalist / bassist Amber Star-Goers, producer / keyboardist Adam Jones, and Justin Star-Goers, these Darkwave mutilators shorten the space between dark wave and doom metal.
Victim kicks the album off with the soundtrack to watching Dracula slowly feed on a victim, keeping them alive just enough to keep sucking. A slow eerie drain of hope! Synth and brooding vocals create a disturbing ambiance that I have not heard since Type O Negative’s Bloody Kisses. Sinister as fuck. Do not listen if you are emotionally unstable. The track also requires a fog machine in your car, home, or on your motorcycle.
Lust In Us would be an excellent track for the Stranger Things kids to fight Vecna with. Again, sinister with an 80’s synth pop feel. The dark never leaves the aura of the track. Amber Star Goers strokes all the right chords to makes you believe she is unstable and might be a real life succubus. Beautiful…but also devastating.
These two tracks are a small sampling of the audio flesh you can sink your teeth into on Drain. It is for the dark and nostalgic hearts of the world. Which I am. Rip into this living corpse of an album! There is a ton of darkness to slowly drain here!
8 out of 10: another monster band from Texas!
