Mur.Doc 104 brings four tracks of brutal thrash straight from the Mediterranean with their 2023 EP The Undying.
The first thing that caught my ear was the clean production and solid mix. The galloping opening riff pulled me right into the title track and kept my attention with interesting metric modulation. You can definitely pick up the Bay Area influences moving through all the tracks.
You can hear the years that the band has been together in the writing and song structures. This EP may only be 20 minutes long, but it’s 20 minutes of aggro thrash that is sure to snap some necks. Guitarists Joseph and Shaun issue solid riffs throughout and Sean lays the low end foundation on bass. Oliver’s drum parts are great and bring the fire. The vocal prowess Luke brings to the record is definitely impressive.
Score: 6.5 I dig the raw nature of this release. A tad unrefined but it has serious horsepower under the hood. A solid listen for a more current take on old school thrash. I’m looking forward to hearing more.
