How many of you wake up and roll your eyes about the day ahead? Mortgage. Inflation. Narcissistic people. Kids. Bills. Shithead neighbors. Family. Work. Your dog shitting on your flowers. It all adds up.
Militarie Gun is a post hardcore band that understands the capitalistic horse shit all generations deal with today. For many of us over the age of 40, their sound takes us back to a time when all we cared about was where we would get our next bong hit. A time-warp we all have no problem escaping to.
Think Radiohead, but Ian Shelton is a rebellious fucker that tells shit like it is. Life sucks. He knows it and he makes it clear you know it, but with hooky melodies and 90’s rock powered with nostalgic punch.
Interestingly, I am not going into the “what” of each track, instead I will talk more about the “how” of Militarie Gun. Punk and hardcore kids will call Life Under The Gun soft. I call it real, and a unifier, in that the problems of today are for young and old alike. As a whole the band blends an older sound with melody, and makes a modern produced rock album…..a melodic Drug Church if you will.
Life sucks balls and it is fucking ok to be pissed off about it. Yet……the band tip toes rebellious fire and the optimism that life will get better for all of us.
8 out 10: Rock isn’t dead. It is instead focusing on the ripple effects of capitalism versus being hot for teacher and wallowing about being a creep!
