Frozen Souls returns with a grotesquely sinister offering of human remains that death metal fans can sink their necrophilic teeth into.
Invisible Tormentor boasts the album off with riffing reminiscent of hardcore, but Chad Green makes it chillingly clear, you are listening to a beastly death metal record. What stands out to me is classic hardcore breakdowns produced with a familiar death metal tones. Unique.
Arsenal of War is the next frigid offering that stood out. It is a headbanger, again with a similar formula to Invisible Tormentor. There is a frantic high pitched solo that whirls and cuts. The gallop drums that follow is a needed uptick in pace before a frozen gore returns to rip your face off.
Matt Heafy has an absolute blast on Glacial Domination and Abominable. His low end vocals are a wonderful compliment to Green’s. Also, the guitar solo in Abominable is one of the highlights of the record. It shreds.
I have spun this album at least 10 times, and while my head bobbed and there are delectable deathly offerings, I found many of the tracks sonically sounded similar. A blending of frozen corpses into one if you will. In the future, I hope they keep exploring and let the carnage breath with a few more breakdowns, solos and distinguishable riffs. But fear not….Antarctic death is aplenty with Glacial Domination. Put on your beanie and swing some ice picks! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
