EYEAM - Dreams Always Die With The Sun

Kenny Hickey (Type O Negative), Kirk Windstein (Crowbar, Down), Johnny Kelly (Type O Negative & 100 other bands), and Todd Strange (Crowbar, Down) created a song in three days recently. Considering the members, you would think this would be a downtrodden doom masterpiece. Instead, you will hear catchy melodies and guitar licks that will inspire fans of KISS to poke out their tongues and lick it up! A surprisingly different kind of masterpiece.
“Dreams always die with the sun” is not optimistic, but the tone of the composition is bright and hits hard. Kenny sounds electrified vocally and there is a trademark Kirk sludge that gives way to an intricate finger tapping solo.
Kenny leads this track with an honest purge. Johnny is the steady spine as he has always been, while Strange is the low end this band requires. There is an undeniable chemistry between the four.
This is a tasty rock n roll track that toes the line of doom metal. For me, it sounds like what would happen if The Beatles and KISS decided to write a Doom song. And I say that with utmost respect. This is an incredibly well composed track that hits all the right chords for fans of Type O and Crowbar, while being something different for a larger rock n roll audience.

8 out 10: let’s hope this is not a one and done offering. There is a ton of musical meat on this bone yet to be devoured.
